Raising funds for a school in Afghanistan

Salam!

The following message is from Dewa Wolasmal and Maryam Sadat - two Afghan women living in Norway:

Dear friends and family,

With your help we wish to provide some assistance to Trili school in Akhunzada village of Chaparhar district, Nangarhar province, Afghanistan. The school hosts a total of 1724 students from 1st to 12th grade. 641 of these are girls up to 6th grade. We've received messages and videos from the school principal explaining and showing the lack of equipment as well as its students making requests based on that. The school and its students have requested the following:

1) Floor mats: The students don't have chairs and desks, so everyone sits on the floor. The cement floor is both cold and dirty. The students have simply requested mats to cover the floor so that everyone can sit on them. If the funding allows it, chairs and desks could also be an option for some of the upper grades.

2) Water jars: the students usually go out of class to the school's well for drinking water. Now they've requested water jars so that water is available inside the classroom as a more hygienic option.

The funds will not be given directly to the school, but used to buy the equipment for them. This ensures that the funds aren't used for other purposes and makes documentation more efficient.

Our contacts are the school's principal (Ehsanullah Aminzai) and the person responsible for handling the funds, Ghulam Yahya Sarwari (situated in Jalalabad, Afghanistan).

The videos of the children/students will not be shared out of respect for their privacy, but we're open to any questions or concerns you may have.
