Raising for a local youth club

Donation protected

Burnham is a small village next to Slough. One year ago, the youth club had to close - for a variety of issues. No-one thought it would reopen. In September, my dad, Paul Sherriff - who had recently retired - was approached and asked if he would consider helping reopen it.

He accepted the challenge, and in April, Burnham Youth Centre reopened. But there has been little support from the local council, and the club is desperately struggling to stay open due to lack of funds. It needs money to put on activities for the children, to do outreach programmes to get more children to come into the club, to pay for supervisors so they don't have to turn children away for lack of volunteers.

With funding, BYC can put on film nights ,pizza nights, set up battle of the bands competitions and so much more. They've got plenty of ideas, but no financial backing.

BYC is such an important part of the community. It's giving children a safe space to go to, to chill out, to play table tennis and air hockey, and to just be children.

He recently asked me to write a 200 word application for a "youth club of the year" prize. The prize was a measly £500. So I figured in case the club didn't win it, perhaps I could raise him that money anyway.

My Dad doesn't know this yet - I'd love to keep it a surprise - and I'd be so grateful for any amount, big or small. Or, if you are from the area and can offer volunteer time or other skills, I'd love to hear from you!

Thank you.

(I should probably add that no-one on the committee at BYC is associated with this fundraiser...)
