As COVID-19 cases in the United States have exponentially increased, hospitals and other emergency services are facing significant shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect the personnel on the frontline.

Healthcare workers and first responders of the pandemic are in desperate need of PPE, including respirator masks, eye protection, and precaution suits. These materials allow them to help others without compromising their own health and the health of those around them.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Mask Force was established as a not-for-profit organization that donates EU certified (149:2001 and A1:2009) PPE to American hospitals and emergency services. These FFP2 masks are recognized by the FDA as a suitable alternative to N95 masks and provide effective filtration and protection against COVID-19.

FAQ

How will the funds be used?
100% of donations will go directly to facilitating the purchase and delivery of masks and other urgent Personal Protective Equipment for frontline healthcare and emergency workers. The team behind Mask Force is not benefiting financially in any way. We provide documentation of our process and our donations - which can be found on our website's progress tab!

How are you different from other “Mask Force” efforts?
We recognize that there are numerous “Mask Forces” that have sprung up across the country - however, these grass-root organizations often focus on bringing awareness to hospitals in need of PPE. Other "Mask Forces” are making DIY face masks - though the CDC has said that these DIY cloth face masks are even less protective than surgical masks.

Why New England?
After focusing our first efforts towards the University of Michigan hospital - we looked to help our local communities in New England. It seemed fitting to work with the hospitals and emergency services that help protect and serve our communities every day. We donate to a network of hospitals within the Boston area! We have identified a list of hospitals based on urgency and supplies needed and prioritized these hospitals.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Currently, donations are not tax-deductible. We are a legal nonprofit and are in the process of filing for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Until then, we have realized that the need is so urgent that we must move forward and hope that you will donate.

Why aren’t the hospitals & government ordering these masks directly?
Hospitals, as well as government agencies, are trying their best to procure masks. However, due to supply chain limitations and global competition, they are currently experiencing extreme shortages.
