Raise for Rita

Rita Gutierrez is a Registered Nurse, a Mother to 3 boys, also Gramma Rita to 2 beautiful grandchildren but most importantly she is a Christ follower. Rita is a dear friend of mine and I have spoke with her about starting up this page. Although we both wish it weren't necessary, we realize that it is in order to help her get the rest she needs. Rita has an aggressive form of Ovarian Clear Cell Carcinoma that is unfortunately Stage IV.  There is no cure for this type of cancer. Rita is undergoing Immunotherapy to keep her alive for as long as possible. This therapy has brought on an autoimmune disease called Hashimotos. To keep it short, her thyroid is elevated greatly which causes extreme exhaustion. The medication to control this is not helping thus far and is being adjusted accordingly. Rita takes the Immunotherapy twice a week. This is keeping her from working a full time job as a nurse in a dialysis center in Colorado. She is trying her best to work 15 hours a week but this is becoming a struggle. Her activities of daily living have become a struggle and takes all of what little energy she has right out of her. I talk to her on the phone for updates and can hear the exhaustion in her voice. Through all of this, Rita praises God and remains upbeat about her illness even though she knows there is no cure. The treatments have shrunk the tumors but will not cure them. Only by the grace of God can she be cured. She has a strong will to live and thanks God for the time she is being given.  She has worked to help others as a nurse and I feel like she deserves to be given that help to take some of the pressure off of her working. Her sons are helping but I felt the need to start this page as this beautiful soul has touched not only my life but so many others. It's time we Raise for Rita.... Any amount will be greatly appreciated. If you can't donate, PRAY and pray for a cure, peace, comfort and energy! Rita is a go getter and is not used to being unable to help others.
