A Healing Cause for Teofilo Palteng

Teofilo began his battle while he was still working in Saudi Arabia, when he started having unusual pain, and learned he has a kidney disease. Unbeknownst to him, a tumor had already been growing aggressively in his liver that was causing an unexplained pain. He consulted a doctor and underwent several tests and later on his MRI showed a malignant tumor. It was concluded that he has a stage 4 cancer of the liver. The tumor was so big that removing it through surgery is not an option. Traditional chemo treatment is unlikely as well because despite the fact that it can only do very little to treat the cancer, his body could not handle the harsh effects of chemo as he had already lost so much weight and muscle mass. He was left with no choice but to go home in the Philippines hoping to find other options. Fast forward, on January 31st he underwent a procedure called Transarterial Chemoembolization or TACE which blocks the hepatic artery, stopping the blood flow into the tumor. The procedure went well but due to his frail body, he sustained complications so he needed to be stationed at the ICU for an extended period of time. When he finally started to recover and was moved to a progressive room (a step down from ICU) he again started manifesting symptoms that affected his lungs and heart, and soon enough he was transferred back to the ICU due to pneumonia.  One complication led to another and his condition never got better. It’s been over three months since he had the surgery and until now he’s still battling to get better. Due to all the treatments and his continuous stay at the Intensive Care Unit, his medical bills had skyrocketed beyond what he and his family can afford to pay.  All the monies his family had put together unfortunately can only pay a small fraction of his medical bills. His health insurance from work doesn’t cover medical expense outside Saudi Arabia so he was left to take care of every single expense. Teofilo is a generous man, a hard worker, and the only bread winner in his family of two - wife and a senior high daughter. Despite learning of his disease while he was working abroad, he continued to work every day because he didn’t want to lose the opportunity to earn money as he knew he will have a great need for it. It may be hard to understand his fate, and why the option he chose led him to an agonizing journey, but one thing is certain; he needs a generous heart like yours to help ease the financial burden he and his family are facing right now. The pain and discomfort is HIS to suffer alone but the enormous burden of paying his medical bills is the one thing you can partake of.
