Rainbow Crosswalk Fundraiser
Donation protected
Beauty, happiness, community, pride, and inclusion; these are just some of the words that come to mind when we think of a rainbow crosswalk. When Gilbert Baker created the rainbow flag in 1978 he refused to trademark it, seeing it as a symbol that represented the LGBTQ community. Duncan is a city steeped in heritage, ethnic diversity, equality, acceptance and cultural inclusion. Please help us create a new permanent rainbow crosswalk located on Duncan Street in front of The Garage Café and Bakery. This is a high traffic area and using regular paint would have costly, long term maintenance. We have discussed the use of an epoxy and resin based paint with the City of Duncan, which can last up to 10 times longer. We feel that with your help and support from the City of Duncan, the required $8500.00 is an achievable goal. We are hopeful that this crosswalk will be seen as a bridge between the past, present, and future; as well as an impactful symbol of acceptance for all members of our community Please take the time to share this post and donate if you can.
