Baja SAE is a collegiate design series organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Each year, SAE publishes a set of stringent rules and regulations by which teams must comply in designing their vehicles. Each team is given a 10hp engine it is not allowed to modify, and the rest is up to the team members to design, manufacture, build, and test their version of a mini-baja vehicle.
There are 3 competitions in the West, Central, and East divisions, at which teams participate in a business pitch, design presentation, and a rigorous technical inspection. The competition is capped with dynamic events, and finally an all-out, wheel-to-wheel 4 hour endurance race with dirt, mud, obstacles, bumps, jumps, whoops, logs, and just about anything else the organizers feel is necessary to attempt to destroy the vehicles.
Raider Racing Baja is celebrating its 5th year as a team, and we have big plans. Using our design and engineering knowledge learned in and out of the classroom, we have re-imagined our design. With the 2018 competition year, we have developed a faster, lighter, and more durable all-terrain ripping machine.
With big plans comes large project costs. Our goal is to raise a total of $30,000 this year, and we are about half-way there. With your help, we can raise the full $30,000 and continue to development of not only Raider Racing Baja and its future vehicles, but more importantly we can help to develop experienced, young engineers ready take on the challenges of the future.
