Raia's Chemo Treatment for Lymphoma

Hi, my name is Calia. I am the Operations Manager of a women-owned and operated pet service called Tails N' Trails Pets LLC. We have three branches serving Rhode Island, Worcester, MA, and Southeastern Wisconsin. One of our walkers, Kate, received some of the worst news any pet owner never wants to hear.

Kate's dog, Raia, was diagnosed with lymphoma in August. She has battled and beat mast cell cancer before, too. Luckily, they caught it early on, and Raia is responding very well to chemotherapy, but they have a long road ahead to fight this battle. Kate brings Raia to Veterinary Cancer Specialists of New England in Cape Cod for chemotherapy once a week, for a total of 18 weeks. This treatment will ultimately amount to upwards of $10-12,000. Any animal lover would agree that you can't put a price tag on your family, and that's exactly what Raia is to Kate.

Kate and her mother adopted Raia when she was 4 months old from the Animal Rescue League in Wakefield, RI. Raia is now 10 years old. Raia supported Kate's mother in hospice while she was dying from terminal cancer herself. Raia has been Kate's rock and support system through triumph and tragedy and has helped Kate to heal and persevere through it all.

Raia loves joining Kate for her daily pack walks, off-leash excursions in the woods, and adventure daycare throughout Rhode Island. She gets to walk, run, play, swim, and teach other Tails N' Trails dogs the ropes of what it's like to be happy, free, and in-the-moment; what every dog needs in their life. She is an incredible mentor to her puppy peers. She also loves cuddling with her feline siblings at home, playing gently with her children neighbors, and of course, her favorite squeaky toys.

Any funds donated that exceed the cost of Raia's chemo treatment will be donated to the Veterinary Cancer Specialists of New England to fund cancer treatment for another family that may not be able to afford treatment for their beloved pet.
