Rafiki Yangu is a not-for-profit organisation supporting disadvantaged kids and/or families that have fallen on hard times.
Rafiki Yangu means ‘My friend’ in Swahili. Some of our members were fortunate enough to travel to Africa for a few months and it was a word that has stuck with us since then.
This concept evolved from volunteering with the disability support service Gateways where we noticed many people were falling through the cracks. Volunteering at Gateways, we have noticed that whilst disadvantaged kids receive NDIS funding, some of the carers or family members do not. This is where Rafiki Yangu fills the gap. We want to make them feel noticed, special and valued. We want to say thank-you and we see YOU.
Our input is tailored to the specific families, individuals or groups we choose to help and their needs and desires. Internally we are fully transparent with collective decision making and sign off on all decisions.
We are currently working with various local schools and multiple families so we would love your support for the more support we get, the more people we can help.
As we are a fully volunteer based organisation, by donating here your money will be withdrawn from Rafiki Yangu’s president Jack Sullivan and deposited into the charities dedicated Bendigo Bank account. From there, 100% of the money that is donated is then used to help support our mission and the families/individuals that we are working with.
We appreciate everyone who continues to support us in our ongoing campaign.
