Radioactive iodine treatment for Rekizza

Donation protected
Rekizza is a rescued Norwegian forest cat who sadly was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism 2 years ago. So far she has responded very well to her thyronorm treatment, however we have reached a point now where she is too close to the max dose. I've been told that in the middle of January her dosage needs to go down or she will be risking damage to her kidneys and liver.

Reducing her dose to a safe level means that she would be under medicated which comes with very uncomfortable symptoms for her. She had a heart murmur when she was diagnosed which is being kept in check by her medication but long term this could come back and get worse if left untreated for too long.

Rekizza had a very poor start at life as she was abandoned by her owners and left to starve in the norwegian woods. Luckily someone managed to catch her and her sister who ended up at the local shelter where I adopted her almost 10 and a half years ago: http://www.sirkeline-omplassering.no/rekizza.html

This cat means the absolute world to me as I have seen her go from a scared and abused timid cat to being the sassy(but still a wee bit timid) diva that she is now. She has wont the heart of many people with her absolute sweetheart demeanour and she deserves the best chance she can get at regaining her health again. Luckily I moved with Rekizza and her 2 animal siblings to the UK 3 years ago, this treatment is shockingly not available in Norway at all so this wouldn't even be an option there!

I will be taking her to the hyperthyroid cat centre in Wetherby, West Yorkshire which is a 2 hour drive from where I live. Due to Rekizzas anxiety I feel like this would be the best option for her as travel and the time spent at the clinic would be at a minimal. https://www.hyperthyroidcatcentre.co.uk/about-us/

They estimate a total of £2200 for the whole treatment, and if we get more donations than what the treatment costs the rest of the money will be donated to the local cat sanctuary called Furry tails who do an amazing job at rescuing and re homing cats in need:

I have till mid January to gather as much money as I can, and what I lack I will be attempting to take up as a loan to cover her treatment.

Both Rekizza and I would be eternally grateful for anyone who's able to help us out with a few pennies, or even just sharing the gofundme. Our financial status is not great and although I will be applying for a few loans to cover the costs, the fact I've only been in the UK for only 3 years means my credit is not great and I'm very likely to be declined which will hurt my credit even further.

Thank you to my lovely friends who's been pushing me to set this up for a long time now. It's not my proudest moment but I am desperate to get my girl the help she really needs.

If you made it to the end, thank you for taking the time to read this.

Lots of love
Rekizza and Hilde.

PS: Rekizza would rather have stayed on her meds had it been an option as they are the best drugs she's ever had xD
