Rachael's Brain Surgery

Rachael is a 32 year old woman from Albuquerque, NM. At age 15 she was diagnosed with Chiari One Malformation of the brain and had her first brain surgery at age 16. Chiari One Malformation means that a section of her skull that holds her brain (the cerebellum) is too small or is deformed and starts to crowd that section putting pressure on her brain stem. Unfortunately, Rachael has also recently been diagnosed with bacterial menigitus making her condition much worse. She has about 5-7 seizures a day due to the pressure on her brain stem and can no longer drive. Because of her pre-existing condition, medical insurance is out of reach and outrageously expensive. Her current medical bills add up to over $300,000 due to frequent trips to the emergency room, neurologist visits, and numerous MRI and CT scans. Rachael's neurolgist has recommended she have a reduction and decompression surgery in Phoenix next month (January 2018). Without this surgery this condition could be potentially deadly as the seizures will continue to worsen and the malformation may eventually cause paralization. This surgery will cost $378,000 and will require 3 months of recovery time. We are looking for your help to raise the down payment needed to schedule her surgery.
