PLEASE HELP SUPPORT CHRIST OUR PROTECTOR.
Mississippi Gulf Fishing Banks Inc. (MGFB), along with the Deepwater Mafia Spearfishing Club, will soon be deploying a life-size concrete statue of Jesus into the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Mississippi. The statue will become part of one of Mississippi’s Fish Havens south of Horn Island. The monument will represent Jesus as our protector both on land and under the sea.
MGFB is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are dedicated to constructing and monitoring through diver observation artificial reefs within the Fish Havens. We rely on volunteers and public donations to conduct our work. As such, we are asking for financial assistance to deploy this statue into the Gulf of Mexico.
Much like the Christ statue in John Pennekamp Park in Key Largo, Florida, this statue will serve as a scuba diving attraction for locals and a destination for tourists to dive the waters off the Mississippi
Coast. It is hoped the resulting publicity will encourage more divers to explore the coastal waters of Mississippi and simultaneously enjoy the other attractions South Mississippi has to offer.
The statue is a hand-crafted creation by Glenn Camplejohn, born out of his passion for God and love for the world under the sea. Glenn is a member of the Deepwater Mafia, a Mississippi Gulf Coast scuba club.
