Our beautiful friends Hannah and Ben need our help.

Last week Hannah gave birth to a tiny 25-week old baby girl named Opal, weighing in at just 420g (no more than a tin of beans).

This little fighter is currently in the NICU, and the challenges this family faces are immense.

Background:

This family have been through more than any family should in the last five years and would never ask for assistance from anyone - but they need us to rally!

In 2019 Hannah was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer aged just 32.

Like the absolute fighter she is, she faced every challenge head on, including months of chemo, weeks of radiation and a mammoth 8 hour surgery, and beat cancer’s butt - All the while with her wonderful husband Ben, and daughter Goldie by her side.

In 2022, they almost lost their house in the northern rivers floods - having to move into a rental for 12 months while their home was completely gutted.

Prior to starting chemo and radiation in 2015, the doctors allowed Hannah to do 1 round of IVF, which resulted in 1 embryo. This was transferred late 2023 after Hannah had been in remission for 5 years.

Thankfully this transfer was successful, however in a devastating turn of events, 2 weeks ago Hannah had to be transferred to hospital due to complications, and their beautiful girl Opal was born, weighting in at just 420grams (about the size of a can of beans).

This darling tiny girl and her family have the fight of their lives on their hands and need our help.

Opal will be in NICU in Brisbane for at least a few months while she gains weight and strength and Hannah will need accommodation close by so she can make regular trips to the hospital.

Their older daughter also starts her first year of school in a few weeks, so dad Ben will need to be making the 300km + round trip very frequently.
