Hello, my name is Paige Monroe and on Dec 8,2022 me and my family were involved in the fire at watterson lakeview apartments. I woke up around 5:40am to the smell of smoke, I immediately woke up my daughters father and told him there was a fire, he immediately ran into the living room which was completely on fire Then ran to my sister who is autistic kicked the door in to the room she was sleeping in and we both started yelling for her he went into the room to try to get her but the room was completely filled with smoke, i do not believe she woke up and the autopsy believes she was already passed away before we even woke up, we lost her to the fire. He then ran back to me and our daughter took her out of my arms and jumped out of our window. We all had to jump out of our second story window. Also NONE OF THE SMOKE ALARMS IN ANY UNIT HAD GONE OFF!! Until the fire physically hit it. When we were outside no one else was out yet till we started yelling for help and that there was a fire. We had to find an ambulance ourselves in the mess of everything going on around us. We went to the hospital where we treated, after we were discharged. We went to a hotel provided by the Red Cross. I am in a back brace and have a walker and can’t move or walk without help. We lost everything. We don’t know what to do or go from here. Anything is appreciated because it helps relieve the financial burden while we take this time to grieve. If you can help in anyway we would be so grateful for it. And If you can’t help please pray and keep us in your thoughts. Thank you all!!
With the fire we lost absolutely everything car, clothes, all my daughters and our belongings, her toys, food, furniture, and housing All donations will be going towards these things, and anything else we may run into. Such as bills, paying for hotels, etc…
