Charlotte is a funny, kind, intelligent, compassionate and loving 12-year-old who has recently been diagnosed with Nephrotic syndrome, a serious kidney disorder.
There is no cure for nephrotic syndrome, only treatments that can help Charlotte to manage her symptoms and prevent more kidney damage. If Charlotte's kidneys stop working, she will need dialysis or a kidney transplant.
Three years ago, at the age of just 9, Charlotte organised a fundraising campaign for a sick child who (ironically) needed a kidney transplant. She also initiated a project 2 years ago, at the age of 10, that saw her, her mum Lisa and then 6-year-old sister Dakota, spend a day in Melbourne giving backpacks filled with toiletries and other goodies to homeless people they found on the streets.
For her commitment to helping others, Charlotte has also been the proud recipient of an Australia Day Medal. Her interview for the article in the local paper quoted her as saying "My dreams are to help others in any way I can because young or old, you can make a difference to the world".
Now Charlotte, Lisa & Dakota need OUR help.
Lisa, has her own business, working long hours to support herself, Charlotte and Dakota.
As you can imagine, weeks in hospital and at medical appointments has meant that Lisa hasn't been able to work and the bills are piling up. Along with the usual day-to-day living expenses, doctors and specialists bills, prescriptions and hospital parking fees are accumulating and causing even more stress for Lisa when her emotional strength needs to be focused on looking after Charlotte & Dakota.
Please consider helping Charlotte's family at this very difficult time; even the smallest amount will help toward hospital parking or a prescription.
