A cause I care about needs help
Tax deductible
Well, after nearly six years working in Shetland, the time has come for me to leave and recently someone asked
"How will you get your bike home?" "I'll ride it home" was my immediate response".... and then the idea was born!
So over the course of 5 days starting from the most northerly house in the UK, up in Unst on 9th September I intend to cycle through Shetland, Orkney then on to the mainland and south to Falkirk.
I've always been a keen mountain biker, and had never even ridden a road bike until I came to Shetland and have spent a fair bit of my free time after work and especially on the long summer's evenings riding the islands pristine traffic free roads.
I'm therefore going to take the opportunity of my departure to try and help raise funds for the MRI scanner appeal that I know will provide a great benefit to those that live and work here.
Please donate generously and pray for a warm northerly breeze! (is a warm northerly breeze even a thing? probably not at this time of year!)
Many thanks for supporting a very worthwhile cause

Over 600 patients from Shetland travel off island to Aberdeen or Glasgow for MRI scans each year, a round trip of over 450 miles. The Shetland MRI Scanner Appeal hopes to raise 1.65 million so that a MRI Scanner can be located in Shetland which would bring quicker access to diagnostic tests, reduce inconvenience and the need to travel off island. An MRI scan is used to diagnose and monitor a wide variety of conditions and the number of patients who need them is steadily increasing.
