Helping a friend to get back on his feet
Our epic 24-hour fundraising walk
We are raising money to buy a prosthetic leg for our brother/uncle.
We will be walking for 24 hours on the 2nd-3rd October 2021, doing the Capital Ring Walk (78 miles/126 km), starting at Wimbledon Park - we would invite anyone to JOIN US at any point during this walk.
Our Story
Earlier this year, our friend/brother/uncle caught Coronavirus among thousands of others. When catching the virus he unfortunately had the worst case of it - hospitalised, under oxygen for over 2 months. Due to catching the virus he experienced another medical issue that caused thrombosis (many blood clots around his body) and one in particular on his leg. The only decision we had was to amputate the leg as other medical treatment could not be implemented due Coronavirus weakening the body.
Over the course of these past 6 months we have seen him go through an extraordinary journey of extreme stress and massive changes to his life. We are very proud of how strong he has been and not letting anything dampen his mood.
So we are hoping to raise as much as we can so he can get back to running around after his grandkids.
