Help empower Cambodian youth through yoga

Donation protected
It is fantastic news that the fog of Covid seems to be lifting on Cambodia and life is slowly settling into a post-pandemic normal. As Nataraj Yoga has not been running classes since April of this year, the studio is in a fragile financial state, as is Krama Yoga NGO which depends largely on the studio’s income for its running costs. During the last few months, we did not have a studio manager and were unable to pay the yoga teachers their usual salaries, despite them working hard to continue providing online yoga classes.

With the improving health situation, we were able to reopen Nataraj studio end of September for in-person classes, with stringent hygiene and social distancing measures in place. As people start to come back to class, we are progressively increasing the offer.

While we are so happy to reopen the studio doors to the public, in the short term, reopening classes increases our expenses, as we strive to pay our teachers their regular wages and have since recruited a studio manager who also needs to be remunerated.

Therefore, it is imperative that our cash flow is increased to allow us to compensate the studio staff who have been selflessly dedicated to the Krama and stuck it out during these past difficult months.

The landlord, who was kind enough to reduce our rent during Covid to, is intending to raise the rent to $1000 / month starting in November, and back to pre-Covid rates starting in January. This is why,

We need your help.

THE KRAMA YOGA MODEL

Krama Yoga is a not-for-profit organisation. The NGO provides outreach yoga classes for children and youth at a subsidised rate, run by Cambodian teachers. The Krama teachers are themselves graduates of Bodysmart lifeskills training and come from NGO backgrounds. Through yoga, they are breaking the cycle of poverty they grew up in, and are often supporting their own parents, siblings and children.
