Support from our community of listeners near and far is critical to station operations, especially now that student fees are optional and year after year we must operate with smaller budgets.
For 2020-2021 CFRC is boosting its capacity to cover campus and community news on our airwaves, podcast platform, social media and website. We've listened to you and are doing this to help keep you informed about news, issues and events of local interest and to provide opportunities for students and community volunteers to develop journalistic broadcasting skills. Further, CFRC is expanding its capacity for non-English language programming to better reflect our community's diversity and provide opportunities for people to share their ideas and help connect cultural/linguistic communities at Queen's and the Kingston area.
Financial support from our community is critical to maintain sustainable coordination of these projects including the recruitment and training of volunteers, equipping them with the skills and tools they need for in studio and remote broadcasting, and to help them get (safely) to in person events for appropriate news coverage, interviews and more.
CFRC also needs your help to support the cost of upgrading several of our aging studio computers, audio interfaces and outdated recording and broadcasting software. In an increasingly digital world and greater demand for cleaner sound and reliable equipment, CFRC needs financial assistance to meet this demand from our listeners as well as community members who want to book our studios.
Can you help us out? Every dollar counts to support bigger programming projects to ensure we can continue producing local community-oriented programming with reliable software and equipment that will improve quality and listener experience!
