My South Africa Trip

Hi all,

My name is Julia McNamara, and I recently graduated as a first generation college student in May from John Carroll University with a degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology with minor(s) in Business & Leadership Development. I was fortunate enough to be offered a Graduate Assistant position at John Carroll to serve the undergraduate community while receiving my MBA.

Before I started my freshman year at John Carroll, I had planned to go on a study abroad trip. Unfortunately, COVID got in the way of the timing of my curriculum, and I was never able to pursue it. BUT, the John Carroll Graduate School is offering a trip to Cape Town, South Africa for a week over spring break to consult businesses internationally. I have taken many classes, and have had professional experience that has shaped my passion for consulting, specifically management consulting.

So, this is a dream trip for me.

My parents have been very kind to contribute as much as they could to my undergraduate degree, but I am still in great debt. If I could avoid taking out more loans, that would be the goal.

I am asking for an advance in birthday & Christmas money so I would be able to be one step closer to my dream career.
