Send Puerto Rican Students to DC
Dear Friends:
(Please help me send Puerto Rican students to Washington, DC)
Today, as the educational system of Puerto Rico faces the aftermath of back to back hurricanes, I decided to earmark my fundraising to help bring young students, emerging leaders from Puerto Rico to participate in the CHCI 2018 leadership programs in Washington, D.C.
Forty years ago, three Latino members of Congress founded the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) under the mission of developing the Next Generation of Latino Leaders and ensuring equal representation of the Latino community in key leadership positions. Today, there are 38 Latino members in congress!
For almost 15 years, I have been an avid supporter of CHCI, recently as a member of their Advisory Council. I have met the students they serve and I tear up every single time I hear their powerful stories -- they are exceptional students at the top of their class with limited resources, access and opportunities. It is especially rewarding to meet the alumni of the program who have gone on to great success in their respective fields and credit their CHCI leadership program for inspiring and preparing them for success.
They inspire me to keep working on behalf of those that don't have access to opportunities.
As you are closing your books for 2017, please consider donating a minimum of $40 (or more) and investing in these young leaders.
Take a look at this video to learn more about CHCI.
Thank you so much for your consideration.
xoxo
Ivette Rodriguez
