Support for God-sSs-End

David, known to the Hell Let Loose (HLL) community as “GOD-sSs-END”, published the first video explaining the mechanics of Hell Let Loose in the late summer of 2019, which brought him instant name recognition amongst the game’s relatively small (at the time) playerbase. A burst of good luck brought him together with a group of avid HLL players who were looking for a home. Just a few weeks later, the Hell Let Loose Training Camp, or HLLTC, was founded. Today, the discord has over 2,400 members concentrated around Hell Let Loose. Other games have found homes here, like Escape from Tarkov, Among Us, Crusader Kings, Valheim and Tabletop Simulator.

Since its founding in the fall of 2019, the HLLTC has become one of the pinnacles of the wider Hell Let Loose community. It has evolved over time - it started as a group of 15 people looking to play together in “power squads” and have a good time. It now hosts its own servers and helps new players understand, learn, and effectively execute the games’ mechanics, as well as being an avid participant in competitive 50vs50 team battles. A culture of patience and kindness has been proliferated by David’s example, and will continue even in his absence. When David talks, people listen. He is a natural leader and a beautiful writer. The mission of being a casual atmosphere with a competitive edge, where the “game” is so much bigger than Hell Let Loose, will persist.

David can take much of the credit for that persistence. He has consistently gone above and beyond, even by “above and beyond” standards. He poured his life, literally, into the growth, sustainment, and day-to-day execution of this mission. He has believed in a “place beyond the pines” - that our only limits are self-created. He has inspired all of us within the HLLTC, and the wider community, to believe in something that is more than ourselves. His work is not limited to mere ideas - he has created websites, produced video content, written training guides, facilitated community development, and produced entire live broadcasts of a one-of-a-kind competitive format. This is not an exhaustive list of his accomplishments - it is a mere sample. His mission with the HLLTC was not to just better ourselves, but to better the wider HLL community. David has believed and executed this mission, even while the world around him has started to go dark.

He served in the National Guard before receiving his undergraduate degree from UConn in 2006. For three years, he served as an IT network administrator for US and Coalition forces in Afghanistan before a condition forced him to return home. David suffers from a rare version of a degenerative eye condition (retinitis pigmentosa) that will eventually lead to blindness. This condition has made it difficult for David to find consistent employment over the last few years. Even though this condition has afflicted him (his eyes process a mere 20% of the light of the average person), he has still accomplished so much. The painful irony of his condition is that it will affect the passions surrounding these accomplishments the most - particularly his love for gaming, video content, and website design.

As a small token of thanks from the HLLTC and the wider HLL community, Abinus (Evan), Barnabas (Angela) and the HLLTC admin team are facilitating this on his behalf to help him ease his financial constraints while he works to find an accommodating employment solution. We hope that by bringing awareness to David and the incredible things he has accomplished, that permanent employment may find its way to him. David has always put others before himself, almost to a fault. This is an opportunity for us to repay some of the time and money he has spent creating such a wonderful place and afford him the chance to get back on his feet financially. Please consider contributing to this effort. Thank you!
