Our friend, Nancy Walton, of Missoula, MT is in need of some help. I'll let her tell the story:

"Driving home from physical therapy when I was about 8 miles from home, I noticed my car didn't seem to have as much oomph as it usually does. About 5 miles from home, my blinker light on the dashboard wasn't as bright as usual, then after another couple of miles, there was no light at all, and when I tried to turn in the radio, the display showed 105.5, but only for 2 seconds before it went black. When I was about 6 blocks from home, I tried to put the window down and it went down v-e-r-y  s-l-o-w-l-y, then the speedometer and tachometer stopped working - both said zero - but the car was still running. I stopped at the light that was 2.5 blocks from home, then when it changed, It took me practically flooring it to get across the intersection, and around the corner to drive the last block to my driveway. I held my breath as I stopped to put it into reverse in order to back into my driveway, and as soon as I was backing in and the front tires were in the driveway, the engine died. I drifted to a stop in my space. Before I got out of the car, I thanked the Universe for letting me make it home, then I broke down, started wondering what I'm going to do. That was an hour and a half ago. I still haven't figured out what I'm going to do.

It's not like I didn't have warnings; my car is a '97 Subaru with 300K miles on it, and in the past 6 months it's had a broken front right axel, and in the past several months I've been sensing that the transmission is going out, but I had no indication that something electrical was failing, too. I don't have the money to buy a new car, or even a newer used car, and I don't have a credit card, don't have credit. I'm not complaining - really, I'm not! It just is what it is. Again, I'm just grateful I made it home before it died; that was a miracle."

Many of Nancy's friends want to help her r to purchase a new (used) car.

In these tough times, it's important to help each other out. Please help our Nancy, whether it's $5 or $500.
