Quinton's and Jeanette's Fund

Donation protected
The photo is of my niece Jeanette (1 year old) and my nephew Quinton (2 years old). They are the children of my sister and her husband (Erin and Charles Brittle). When they were born, everything about them seemed normal. Both were cheery young infants, and then at about 6 months old, each started showing signs that something wasn't quite right. It was at that point that both of them showed signs of slowing physical development.

Quinton has been to all sorts of doctors, including a geneticist. They have yet to make a concrete diagnosis, but they are in the process of doing testing for a range of congenital disorders. Whatever it is that is wrong with him, it has caused a multitude of issues. He has poor muscle tone, he cannot eat solid foods, and he can not walk, talk or sit up on his own. Right now he is in the hospital with a bad respiratory virus. He will be discharged in a few days, but will be heading back again next month for surgery.

Jeanette is earlier on in the testing stages, but the doctors think that both of them are suffering from the same disorder. Her development has slowed significantly, similar to what started happening to her brother when he was the same age.

A single disabled child is a lot for parents to handle, but to have 2 children in that situation is beyond comprehension. They are wonderful parents who are doing everything in their power to help their children. Quinton is in physical therapy to help his physical development and they work with him everyday. Jeanette will start a similar program before long as well. Unfortunately, everything has started to take its toll on this loving young couple. They have had to miss work to take the little ones to the doctors and now they are missing even more with Quinton in the hospital.

The grandparents have been very helpful, watching their oldest child (Abigaile, age 5), as often as they can when the other two are in the hospital. Our family has given as much as we can afford to help them in their time of need, but we need more help for this beautiful family of five.

They have started applying for assistance for disabled children, but those processes are long and complicated, and it could be a long time before any of them are able to help. We understand that not everybody is in the position to help others financially, but if there is anyone that can, we would greatly appreciate it. Anything would help this young couple and their family. The money will go towards making up for lost wages, groceries, diapers and the like, and some special equipment for the little ones.

Our family thanks anyone and everyone who is willing to help, and we appreciate any donation, big or small.

Thank you,
Michelle Clifford (Aunt)
