Queerport 2022

WE ARE BACK FOR ANOTHER YEAR OF QUEERPORT!

Over 40 artists, musicians, poets, vendors, creators, and performers came together under one roof in June 2019 for the queerest day Shreveport, Louisiana has seen in a long, long time (or maybe ever!). Over 200 people showed up including families, friends, allies, and duh, a bunch of queer people. That day showed us how vital having all-ages events in our area is, and the importance of providing different avenues for queer expression.

Flash forward to 2022 and we're on YEAR FOUR of celebrating our queerness! We are not just a festival anymore, but a resource for queer youth, creatives and artists. In 2020 we went digital and created our Global Creative Directory, showcasing everyone from drag queens to textile artists. We also amped up our online presence with local stories, movie reviews, and our Health & Wellness Directory. Last year we were able to hold our first in-person event (our flagship festival) since early 2020. It was a dream come true to reunite with so many of our friends and family!

BUT NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP AGAIN!

Queerport is funded 100% through community efforts. We are a small, grassroots org with one thing in mind – giving LGBTQIA+ people a platform. We have a number of things planned for this year including:

Not to mention movie nights, art parties, more drag shows, and more online content/stories.

Our goal for 2022 is to raise $4,000, paid primarily to:

1. Our performers/guests/creators/workshoppers/etc.

2. Online advertising

3. A small padding for emergencies

4. Rental of spaces

5. Security (when applicable)

If you can, please donate today. We are excited to have an even bigger presence in 2022, but we need you. We're so proud of our community and allies for supporting us over the years. Your contributions pay creatives, and that's all we've ever wanted.

WHAT IS QUEERPORT?

QUEERPORT isn't just an event, we are a MOVEMENT. Our goal is to bring together queer creatives in the south, specifically in northwest Louisiana, by providing alternative resources and programming throughout the year. We aim to have as many all-ages events as possible. Our long-term mission is to build our city’s first LGBTQIA+ arts and resource center.
