Queer Creative Warehouse Damaged by Flooding

Hello,

We are reaching out to ask for your support in helping our queer home that has recently been devastated by flooding when the River Lee Canal burst its banks. Over a foot of flooding entered our home and destroyed essential appliances, damaged possessions, work equipment and ruined food. As we live in a precarious warehouse we are not covered by insurance or the council, and so we are reaching out to our community.

This has been a completely exhausting and overwhelming situation, we are having to remove all the flood water from our warehouse and dry all our possessions by ourselves. It will take a while before we can return to a semblance of normality. We are mostly freelance creatives and have had equipment destroyed and have lost valuable fabrics and materials. Our livelihoods and businesses have been affected, and this has significantly impacted us financially.

Funds raised will go towards replacing our essential appliances such as freezers, washer, heaters, sofas, rugs, equipment for work and personal possessions. These items are not only necessary for daily living but also being able to work again.

We really didn’t expect it to do this well, it’s immensely helped the process of restoring our home to be a lot easier. We had also increased from the initial goal to help contribute to our living expenses, bills, and the time we’ve had to take off work in order to deal with the flooding. Thank you again, this has really meant a lot to us!
