Quarter Moon Acres Equine Therapy Center

Donation protected
In 2014, three close friends had a dream to start an equine therapy center. Quarter Moon Acres had their first client that summer. Subsequent years exploded with 12 to 16 clients each summer. Mere words cannot express the blessings we (founders and volunteers) all felt witnessing the change a thousand-pound animal made to God's very special humans.

It is because of these blessings causing an increase in clientele that QMA is embarking on a capital campaign to raise $175,000 to construct an indoor riding arena.  With more months not riding than riding, it is QMA's goal to provide a strong foundation upon which to grow the size and scope of "turning disabilities into abilities". QMA desires to offer those with special needs a place where they not only belong but an opportunity to interact with others and the inspiration to pursue goals they'd previously thought unobtainable.

The indoor facility would be located on the same property as QMA. After talking to an attorney, the owner of the property assured QMA that a legal and amicable facility could be built for QMA. The proposed facility will provide a strong foundation upon which to grow the size and scope of equine therapy near Amery.

The indoor facility would also:

Provide year-round predictability and consistency in equine assisted therapies
Increase frequency of sessions , for more clients
Provide a weather-proof area for more uses (those with or without their own horses)
Entertain the public for the Fall Family Barn Bash
Broaden our client base with hippology (one to one therapy with licensed therapist's)
Explore new equine therapy methods for clients, i.e. EAGALA-non-riding equine therapy
Assist in initiating a "Hope for Hero's" program designed for our war hero's
Implement an At-Risk Youth Program (imposing yet gentle, preceptive yet nonjudgmental, horses can help individuals gain essential insights into their inner demons)
Help us with being the first Wisconsin Special Olympic Riding program. While Wisconsin has track and field and other Special Olympic games, riding has not been a part of Special Olympics in Wisconsin.
