In memory of Nathan Dickison

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we are to say goodbye to the beautiful and giving soul that was our friend and loved-one Nathan.

At the tender age of 19, he has sadly passed, leaving behind his loving family and many, many friends.

While we await Official reports, it is our understanding that it was his struggle with Diabetes Type 1 that resulted in his tragic and unexpected passing.

Nathan touched so very many lives as a loving son, brother, grandchild, nephew, cousin, student, teammate, colleague, instructor and the most loyal of friends.

He will be remembered for his energy, his generosity, his humour and his zest for life. He was a unique and special character. Tenacious, positive, driven grateful and pure of heart.

Nathan was always on the move, always going somewhere, always studying, planning, volunteering or working.

He had goals. Oh so many goals. And dreams. Dreams that drove him. Dreams that he was working so hard to achieve.

A diligent student, in his second year at the University of Glasgow reading for his degree in Physics and Mathematics.  A talented fencer.  A gifted instructor.

Ever-present in his community.  As a young Newham Scout and then as part of the team at Oakley Adventures and Outdoors in the City, he gave so much of his time and energy to others in his area.

From the age of 11 he shared his own energy, enthusiasm and passion for the outdoors to make it possible for others to experience the highs of adventure and outdoor learning.

He spent endless weekends and school/uni breaks as an assistant then as an instructor working to afford children birthday parties and family fun days, school rewards trips and confidence enhancing experiences.

He gave of his time.

He gave of himself.

Wanting to share the gifts of confidence, self-esteem and belonging that he had experienced from his time in the outdoors.

At this tragic time, as we begin to fathom a future without Nathan in our lives, we are appealing for those who knew him and were touched by his presence, to contribute whatever little we can each spare to an appeal in his memory.

We would like to ensure his family are able to plan a funeral befitting of his bright and generous spirit. A funeral, the very prospect of which seems so untimely and so unfair but is nonetheless imminent.

Thank you, for taking the time to read this and to contribute where you can. A final act of giving, in the memory of Nathan. Nathan who gave and shared so much of his brief but oh so bright time here with us in this life.

We'll miss you always Nathan. Until we meet again. Xxx
