Lost everything in house fire

Donation protected
On December 10, 2019, the lives of four Carnegie, PA residents changed drastically.  Karl Ellenberger, Barbara Ringler, Christian Jones, and Timothy Hamilton lost everything they owned in a house fire.  The house was a historic landmark for the Pittsburgh area, as it was the former home of Pittsburgh Pirates legend Honus Wagner from 1917 to 1955.  The current tenant was working diligently to restore the house, making it an artistic and communal space for area artists.  The house included a small stage where open mics and comedy nights were shared with friends.  Spaces like this are few and far between, and this community space was also lost in the fire.

The four tenants are currently displaced, and they lost everything to the fire.  All electronics, clothes, shoes – everything that the average person relies on completely every day.  They are faced with an uphill battle to rebuild, find a new temporary living situation (currently staying in a local hotel), and there is an urgent need to purchase living essentials in the interim.

We are eternally thankful that no one was injured during the fire that consumed the entire house.  The fire began in the basement in the dryer, and the flames quickly moved up through the house.  A sincere thank you to the overwhelming response of local fire departments including:  Carnegie Volunteer Fire Rescue,  Bridgeville VFD, Rennerdale VFD, Presto VFD, East Carnegie VFD, Glendale VFD, and Dormont VFD, who spent over five hours subduing the flames, which kept the fire spreading to nearby houses.  Thank you to Scott Township and Robinson Township EMS for their presence on the scene.  One tenant’s cousin is a firefighter in Carnegie and helped keep the flames at bay.
The four tenants need time to heal from this tragedy, but the immediate need for support via GoFundMe is necessary to move forward.  Any amount will help tremendously.  Thank you for your contribution, and please encourage others to help by sharing.
