Running for mental health - Man Down Cornwall
16.9 miles for Mental Health!
Praze Football Club are organising a squad run in Hayle next month to raise money for our future club fees and a local charity of our choice, which will receive 50% of the funds raised. The charity that we've selected means a lot to us and I'm sure many others too - the man down charity.
Man Down are a charity who support men's mental health in Cornwall. They offer a very informal, safe and relaxed environment for men of all ages 18+ who are struggling with any kinds of mental health issues.
Suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in this country. From the recent ONS data, men accounted for 3/4 of suicide deaths in 2019. The average rate of deaths per 100k of men was 16.9, that equates to 4303 suicides in one year which was the highest for 20 years!
So we as a club have challenged ourselves to run 16.9 miles around Hayle Estuary on the 20th of June. The funds raised will massively help the club with its upcoming application and maintenance fees, with the ultimate goal of raising awareness for a great cause. Good luck to the 20 lads who are taking part in the run and we look forward to seeing how well we can do!
