Tragic Loss of Anthony McFarlin II

Donation protected
My name is Mirayah McFarlin and I am the little sister of the now deceased, Anthony McFarlin. My big brother and I were extremely close, and I am so heartbroken by his untimely passing. Our parents are Mary Jane and Anthony McFarlin Sr. We are all originally from San Diego, CA and moved away from Anthony Jr. to North Carolina in December of 2015. My parents and brother Erick were on vacation in California visiting my brother Anthony when the tradegy, described below, occurred.

Anthony was the most selfless and compassionate man that you'd ever have the pleasure to know. There was nothing that he would not do for his family and the ones he loved most. He constantly put others before himself. He truly had the most beautiful heart, and anyone who crossed paths with Anthony could tell you the same. Unfortunately, this light of our lives was just taken from us. Anthony was taken from us at the young age of 31 years old. Our family is now left broken and full of questions.

In the early hours of Saturday, August 4th, Anthony was tragically taken from our family. What was supposed to be a quick family reunion trip to California, turned into the most devastating weekend of our lives. Anthony was shot while attempting to assist his wounded girlfriend to safety. For the remainder of the day, he was placed on life support as doctors fought to save him. Unfortunately, Anthony's brain was too severely damaged to bring him back to health. Yesterday, we lost an amazing son and brother. We lost an angel.

Anthony left this world a hero. He saved the lives of 5 people, by becoming a LifeShare organ donor. We are so proud of what he has done, but our family is currently devastated and struggling with his loss. We are asking for your help during this extremely tragic time in our lives. We are planning to use these funds to, first and foremost, lay my brother to rest in the way that he deserves to be. We want to give him the funeral that he deserves. My family also plans to use a small amount of these funds to compensate for the extended stay and plane tickets that were purchased to be by Anthony's side in his last moments. Unfortunately, my family was also blindsided by a cancer diagnosis earlier this year that left my family in a financial hole. Any and all donations would be a tremendous blessing for my parents. Just to be clear with everyone, the funds will go directly to my parents.

We are so grateful for the showering of love our family is receiving during this time. Our family also asks for prayers to be sent our way. The pain we are experiencing now is unlike anything we have ever felt. We thank you in advance for your love and support. God bless you all, and thank you for taking the time to be a part of our story. Just like you always said Ampy, "Family over EVERYTHING". We are so grateful that, due to the donations, we are now able to bring you home to the family that loves you! As Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose". All glory to God! We praise You in this storm. We cannot thank you all enough for your hearts to give. We are so excited to reveal to you all the memorial this is allowing us to give Anthony.  Lots of love.
