Ramadan Project

Assalamu'alaykum!

Every year, Muslims around the world fast during the Holy Month of Ramadan. This month allows Muslims to gain spiritual fulfilment, whilst experiencing the difficulties those less fortunate than us go through.

This year the Islamic Society at St George’s, University of London will be providing iftaars to St George’s staff & students, amongst other relevant initiatives such as providing for the local community. Iftaar is the meal eaten at the time of breaking the fast and is done so everyday, throughout this month. We would very much appreciate your support - whether this is through donations, or sharing this fundraising page with others.

The Prophet (SAW) told us that "Whoever feeds the person who is breaking his fast, he will have his reward (for his fasting) without decreasing anything from the fasting person". Let's try to emulate the character of the Prophet (SAW) this Ramadan and feed the fasting people, for which we will also get the reward!

The money raised will primarily go to feeding St George’s staff and students throughout the month. Amongst other relevant initiatives is the possibility of some of the food being donated to local homeless and vulnerable people, and Tooting Community Kitchen. Non-St George's individuals who request a meal and/or accompany their friends/family to iftaars at St George's will also be able to benefit from the iftaars. This will enable us to be the means of feeding even more of our fellow Brothers and Sisters, Alhamdulillah!

Any excess donations from this year's cause will be used for other necessities regarding ISoc. Please do be aware that due to the nature of fundraising pages, a small percentage is taken by the platform
