Near-fatal drowning recovery fund

On November 9th, 2020 a terrible accident happened to our beloved Jacob. Our sweet, loving three year old boy fell into the family pond. His mother jumped into the water and pulled him out but it was too late. Jacob was unconscious and had zero signs of life. His mother started CPR right away and called 911. In fear the paramedics may have a difficult time finding them, Jacob’s lifeless body was loaded into the car. His mother continued CPR in the backseat. They met the paramedics at the closest intersection and Jacob was quickly loaded into the ambulance and transported to Geauga Hospital. They continued CPR and life saving efforts for the next two hours at the hospital. There were still no signs of life, no breathing, no pulse, etc. After the two hours expired, the doctors had everyone stop working on him and told the mom to come into the room and to say goodbye to Jacob. The mom came into the room and before saying goodbye, she asked God to please give him one more chance. At this moment his heart monitor went from flatline to a faint pulse. Doctors immediately continued working on him and called for life flight. Jacob was flown from Geauga Hospital to Rainbows in Cleveland where they were able to get him stable.

Doctors and staff are calling Jacob’s survival an absolute miracle, but the real fight now has begun. Jacob spent the next two months in the PICU at rainbows and would improve a little each day. Brain scans show no major cognitive damage but there is damage to other areas of the brain. Jacob can not speak yet but will smile at his mom when she talks to him. He continues to fight everyday! Day after day Jacob would experience terrible “Neurostorming” which were similar to having seizures. He has had a Tracheotomy and a feeding tube put in, along with dozens of other procedures.

There is a treatment available using a “hyperbolic chamber” that can potentially reverse the damage to Jacob’s brain. But of course, it’s not FDA approved and therefore not covered under insurance. The cost for everything will be significant! Funds will be distributed directly to the family for Jacob's recovery and hospital bills.  Thank you for taking the time to read our story and any amount you could donate would be greatly appreciated!
