Gavin's Medical Fund

Gavin Loring is part of the Brookwoods/Deer Run camp family, and recently a participant in the Leadership Development Program at Brookwoods.  On December 23rd, Gavin was in a head on collision when his car skidded on ice.  He suffered a severe blow to his head and was rushed to Maine Medical Center in Portland.  In the last few days, doctors have worked to reduce the swelling and bleeding in his brain with a craniotomy and medications. He is heavily sedated to allow his brain to rest.   Fortunately, there are some wonderful, positive signs in his recovery such as responding to commands to squeeze a hand or open his eyes.  He is on a feeding tube, but is now breathing on his own.

The trauma center at Maine Med is excellent, but of course is expensive.  In addition, Hannah, Gavin's mom is not working in order to be with him at the hospital.  The hospital is about an hour from their house in North Waterboro, so there are travel expenses as well as food costs associated with being there each day (although Hannah says she has to be reminded to eat!).  Would you consider helping to alleviate some of the pressure of the Loring's financial needs?  It's a way all of us can pull together to support them in this difficult time.

Please pray for Gavin's full recovery.  Take hope in this word: "So do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."  Isaiah 41:10
