My Dad was born in Lima Peru June 6, 1942. His mother died at 6. At 8, he ran away from home. Being homeless he shine shoes on the streets and learned English. He wanted to become a world-known artist at 16. American sponsor gave him a residential visa. At 17, with twenty-five dollars, he hitched-hiked to America. Living in NY and CA, he waited tables, In CA He was discovered by a poster company that sold thousands of art. In 1965, he created his first pen and ink historical collage-style mural on canvas titled, 'The Famous World'. ' He has exhibited his murals throughout the country, in malls, galleries, outdoor art shows, and fairs. For 50 years, he has been selling his artwork in, Greenwich Village. He is the Michelangelo of the 20th. century. His artwork has been the backdrop for T.V. shows and newspapers. He believes a true artist is at a high level, close to God. With his unique style, blend of philosophy, and poetry, he has become known as, Rico, the artist of Greenwich Village.
