My wonderful sister, Amy Kress, has been living with cancer for over 6 years. It has now progressed to stage 4 which is incurable but still treatable. She is facing chemo and other difficult treatments to prolong her life for the rest of her days. She will never be ‘done chemo’. She will never be cured. This is her life for as long as she has.
Amy is a single mother to two amazing kids that are her inspiration and reason for continuing to fight. These kids are her world and are two of the kindest, smartest and most loving kids I’ve ever met.
Amy is living in a Denver, Colorado and has been there for almost two decades. Her extended family, however, remains in Canada. We are unable to help with her day-to-day needs and it is heart breaking to us. She has recently been denied the opportunity to relocate with her kids back to Canada, so the distance between her family and her remains too great.
Unfortunately, Amy’s ongoing health issues have made the care of her children and home upkeep difficult to say the least. She is often too sick with chemo to cook and clean as much as she would like to. I am raising money to help her hire someone to come in a few times a week, or more, to help her manage the day-to-day tasks and to provide meals for her kids. To have these basic tasks covered would mean that Amy can concentrate more fully on her health and healing and on her connection with her kids.
