Help Save Scruffy
Donation protected
The bestest boy Scruffy was bitten by an Eastern Brown sometime on Monday and we found him on Tuesday morning, paralysed, drooling and crying every now and then.
Scruffy has been in the kid’s lives their whole existence. He sat on my belly while pregnant with them and let me know when both the boys were struggling in utero.
He has never once snapped at any of the kids that have come to our house, he even plays “tug of war” lighter when the babies were babies.
We call him go-go-gadget tongue coz he’ll lick you to death before he bites you.
He is my emotional support dog, always able to tell when I’m about to have an anxiety attack and just sitting with me.
He is a part of our family and we would never forgive ourselves if we didn’t do everything to save him.
We rushed him to the vet and at the point of writing this, is receiving his 2nd dose of anti venom. The anti venom itself is $1200 a pop (he’s had 2 doses) and then he needs overnight nursing tonight because he’s so unwell. There was a maybe small improvement with the first dose so we’re hoping that this helps but he’s far from out of the woods.
I hate to do this, but so far our vet bills are over $5000 and with the possibility of even if he does pull through, it being an additional $350 a day until he’s stable, we’re struggling. $4000 is covered under pet care that we can pay back with interest, but so far today has been a $2000 out of pocket day and the costs are climbing.
We have amazing family that have banded together to loan us some cash but it’s a loan because everyone is doing it tough.
If you have met the goodest boy, love the goodest boy, or even just love us, if you can donate even $5 I will be forever grateful to help us keep hoping for the best.
My heart is broken. And I made the night nurse promise she would rub his ears all night because he deserves it. Because he’s the goodest boy ever.
