Joseph und Hellen wollen heiraten!

Liebe Freunde von Joseph und Fonelisco, liebe Unterstützer dieser Kampagne,
seit 2011 arbeiten wir vom Fonelisco e.V. mit Joseph, dem Leiter des tansanischen Waisenhauses zusammen. Er ist nicht nur ein Partner in unserer ehrenamtlichen Arbeit, er ist unser Freund. Wir möchten Joseph dabei unterstützen, neben seiner Arbeit für die Organisation ein Privatleben wie jeder Mensch führen zu können. Joseph und Hellen - langjährige Mitarbeiterin von Fonelisco - möchten heiraten. Beide verdienen so gut wie kein Geld, sodass sie auf Hilfe angewiesen sind, um ihren großen Traum von einem gemeinsamen Leben umsetzen zu können. Denn in Tansania ist es Tradition, der Familie der Ehefrau einen sogenannten "Bride Price" zu bezahlen - Geld, das Joseph gerade sammelt.
In unserer Satzung haben wir uns der Hilfe bedürftiger Kinder verschrieben, sodass wir für Zuwendungen leider keine Spendenbescheinigungen ausstellen können. Trotzdem hoffen wir auf rege Unterstützung für Joseph. Jemand, der immer zuerst an andere denkt, hat es verdient, dass wir an ihn denken!
Doch bevor wir hier lange Worte verlieren, lassen wir Joseph lieber selbst zu Wort kommen - in einem Brief, den er geschrieben hat, um Unterstützung für seine und Hellens Hochzeit zu erbeten:
My dear families and friends in Germany!
I want to thank God for giving me the chance to get to know some of you in person or staying in contact with you through Fonelisco e.V. We are one big family. You have been supporting my endeavours and the orphanage for ages now and I have the strong feeling that we are all working together for a lasting successful project: FONELISCO. Fonelisco and its children are my family that I have for more than twenty years now. But still, I’ve always had the dream of having my own wife and kids as well.
That’s why I have good news to share. Many of you know Hellen or have heard of her. She has been working for the orphanage for many years now and she loves the children. We together, Hellen and I, decided to marry soon and hope to be able to do so next year. In my country we have a long-lasting tradition of “bride prices”. It gives the future husband the opportunity to show respect to the wife’s family for raising this wonderful woman. I have to pay a bride price of around 2200€ to the family of Hellen, money that I don't have.
Together with Hellen, we have been blessed in September 2017 with our beautiful son Dominik and he is growing very fast. And Hellen has three more children, Albert (7), Catherine (5) and Natasha (3) and takes care of her nephews Elias (14) and Gabriel (10). According to our tradition here when you marry a woman who has other children, they become a part of your own family after paying the bride price. Therefore, if I can pay the bride price then I will have a big family of 6 children and the Fonelisco family.
I’ve been working for more than twenty years now following my dream of giving street children and orphans a haven. My work pays me back in various ways: I see the children growing up happily, playing and getting education. I meet wonderful people from all other the world. I thank God for this great opportunity and the work that I have. But I must make sacrifices, especially concerning my private life. I only get paid a very small salary which is just enough to make a living. Too many things in life are about money and I don’t regret the choice that I made. But I want to share my life with Hellen as my wife and unfortunately, I need money to do so. That’s why I’m asking for your help. Any support you can provide, every single Euro you can give, brings me closer to my dream of marrying Hellen. I would be more than grateful if you supported me in realizing this big dream. For my wedding date you will be the first to know and you are all very welcome to come to Tanzania and celebrate together!
