1974, an American educator by the name of Donna Seibert Ricci and her husband Alfredo Ricci, living in Rome Italy, had a dream. A budding preschool named Greenwood Garden School made its debut in the eternal city and has since become a recognized institution. After 43 years, Jenai Ricci, their daughter, decided to continue the family tradition firstly achieving a PGCE in Early Childhood Education and then a Master’s degree in Education with a specialty in reading and literacy, before taking over the school.
Setting the bar for the highest standards in Early Childhood Education and exceptional attention to detail are what sets GGS apart.
When you visit the school, you will see and hear the children learning and playing in English, encouraging each other to as well because they actually love it. Creating a fully English-speaking environment is the primary focus of the school along with the concept that learning occurs in a stimulating, immersive environment where the children can develop at their own pace.
The current pandemic has adversely affected life as we know it, its consequences going far beyond the tragic health emergency we are experiencing. Small businesses in particular have been forced to reevaluate day to day operations, key points of infrastructure and ultimately their future. GGS is no exception. The new health and safety restrictions are limiting the number of students that schools can accommodate while simultaneously imposing additional expenses. GGS has identified several areas of improvement and is beginning a modernization effort. Nel 1974, a Roma, un’educatrice Americana di nome Donna Seibert Ricci e suo marito Alfredo Ricci diedero vita a un sogno. La Greenwood Garden School, una piccola scuola internazionale, fece il suo debutto nella città eterna diventando da allora un’istituzione consolidata e riconosciuta. Dopo 43 anni, la figlia Jenai Ricci, ha deciso di portare avanti la tradizione familiare, conseguendo un PGCE in educazione infantile e un Master in Educazione, prima di rilevare la scuola.
Ciò che contraddistingue la GGS è la ricerca dei massimi standard nel campo dell’educazione infantile e una straordinaria attenzione ai dettagli.
Visitando la scuola vedrete i bambini imparare e giocare completamente in inglese, incoraggiandosi l’un l’altro perché parlare inglese è un divertimento. Creare un contesto in cui la lingua comune è l’inglese assieme all’idea che per l’apprendimento sia necessario un ambiente stimolante e immersivo dove ogni bambino possa progredire seguendo il proprio ritmo sono la base del programma della GGS.
L’attuale pandemia globale ha avuto un impatto negativo su tutte le nostre vite. Le sue conseguenze vanno al di là della già devastante e dolorosa emergenza sanitaria, intaccando anche il sostentamento di molte famiglie. Le piccole compagnie in particolare, che hanno dovuto rivalutare il modo di operare quotidiano nonché le loro infrastrutture, vedono messo a rischio il loro futuro. La GGS non è un’eccezione. Le nuove norme per la salvaguardia della salute e della sicurezza hanno la conseguenza di limitare il numero di alunni che una scuola può ospitare e, allo stesso tempo, impongono spese aggiuntive necessarie per salvaguardare sia i bambini che lo staff. La GGS ha individuato una serie di miglioramenti e sta iniziando un processo di modernizzazione. Questa meravigliosa scuola ha bisogno del vostro sostegno per superare questo momento di difficoltà e continuare a offrire l’altissimo livello professionale e umano che la caratterizzano.
