Hello! I am a resident and mom of two in Middletown CT. I grew up in Middletown & attended public schools. Art as a child was a passion of mine of which lead to my career in architecture.
Crayola has developed a new colors of the world package of crayons with skin & eye color tones to reflect multiculturalism in a modern world. All children should feel loved & confident no matter what color they are. Every child should have art supplies to accurately depict themselves & their families - which come in all shapes, sizes & colors too.
I am trying to raise funds to provide every public school kindergarten class room in Middletown with a package of the new crayons. The crayons will be exclusively sold at Walmart starting 7/6/2020, currently pre-order is sold out, but packages should be available by September.
Each package costs approximately $1.77 before tax. If I can raise enough funds, perhaps every child entering kindergarten in the fall of 2020 can get their own package - which will be important if stay at home orders are still in place. I estimate based on enrollment last year - 457 students for MPS (10 for St. John's)
