Update: John was moved to St Elias Rehab center where he continues to struggle to breathe even with his tracheostomy. He still cannot talk without a special apparatus which tires him out very quickly. He can feel touch on his feet and hands but cannot move them. With the healing that is happening he is doing a lot of sleeping.

On October 22nd,2025 my husband John got dizzy while sitting on the edge of our bed. He passed out and fell to the floor hitting his head and jamming his neck on a wooden shelf. I came into our room and found him laying face down on the floor. He was conscious and telling me he needed to lay flat because he couldn’t feel his arms and legs. I told Jenna to call 911. I tried to help him by getting him off his face (glasses were cutting into his face) but I couldn’t move him. Jenna came in and I talked to the 911 operator while Jenna sat on the floor with her dad. The paramedics came and took him to the ER. I followed in my car. At the hospital I was told by the neurosurgeon that John has a serious spinal cord injury. He has no feeling from the neck down and the area of the spinal cord that was injured controls his breathing. So they put a breathing tube in to help him and moved him to the ICU.

Today (10/23): John is doing pretty much the same. Paralyzed from the neck down. Also, he still has the breathing tube in but he’s pretty much breathing on his own with just a little assistance. If he continues doing well breathing they could possibly take it out tomorrow so he can talk and be more comfortable. He has been so agitated with the breathing tube and trying to spit it out.

He has been very responsive to people coming in and out of the room-watching them and trying to interact… even getting teary eyed when Jenna talking to him today.

So, I am creating this because John has been the major breadwinner in our family. Without his income we are going to have to figure a few things out. Also, I anticipate a bunch of new medical bills that we will need help with.

I don’t know what the future holds but I know that my faith is in the Lord and he will walk beside us through this journey. Thanks for your love and support whether you give financially, spend time loving on us or spend time praying for us. We appreciate each and every one of you .
