Gizmo’s Fund

My name is Victoria and this is my 5 year old half yorkie, half poodle, Gizmo. He is a very sweet, cuddly dog. My entire life I wanted a small, white, fluffy dog & when I turned 18 years old I got myself just that. He is my best friend. We do everything together. We go on road trips to the mountains, to visit my mother, & to the beach once a year. Gizmo is a kind dog, & loves to smell your toes & lick your face. His daily routine consists of getting picked up by Grandpa at 7am, go on a 30 minute walk around the block, nap with Grandpa, & repeat until I get off work. This dog has brought my very distant family closer together & he is very special to us all. He has become very ill recently & rapidly and the diagnosis is still uncertain. All we know this far is his liver ALT is elevated 4 times the normal amount. He has broken blood vessels & bruising without any known trauma and a normal platelet & clotting time tests. It all started on 08-03-2020 when I suspected he had an anal gland infection. He was licking the area & hadn’t had a bowel movement for a day. Took him to the ER for pets, & they flushed it, put him on antibiotics & pain meds & he was good to go. He got better, then he got worse on 08-13-2020 than he initially was.. He could barely walk, he didn’t want to move his back legs at all, didn’t want to go up the stairs. He didn’t want to go on his daily walk. He drank so much water all day long. When he would pass a bowel movement it was diarrhea & he was straining. There was blood & mucus in his bowel movement. You can see it in his face that he’s in pain, he’s shivering & whimpering. He’s very lethargic, very stressed out. My poor fur baby in pain & I don’t know what to do. I take him back to the ER where they performed blood tests & urinalysis. They say he’s in stable condition, but his bloodwork is all over the place. The platelet count & bruising are inconsistent with each other. It takes 24 hours to get results back on the urinalysis. They are also testing for tic borne illnesses & leptospirosis. If these tests are negative, they want to investigate if Gizmo has a rare clotting disorder that normal veterinary offices do not normally test for.  They have suggested to me to have my dog transferred to some sort of Texas A & M University Veterinary Hospital where they can perform this test. There’s a lot of mystery going on with my precious little dog and This has left me in a financial hardship to get the proper treatment for my sweet boy. I pray that my special 4 legged friend makes a full recovery. I pray that those who are reading this keep him in your thoughts and prayers too, as he goes through this scary journey. I know times are tough for everyone right now, & there are plenty other things to be donating to- just know Gizmo & I appreciate any kind of support durning this time
