Help my friend see again

This is my friend.
He came to be my friend through a project we did at our home. He is a carpenter, a stone mason actually. He is also a diabetic who is very mindful about his health. Sadly, and likely a result of his diabetes, he has experienced a problem with his eyes. Thanks to a very kind ophthalmologist he was steered in the right direction. He has since had several laser procedures to stop the bleeding in each of his eyes. However, he also has premature cataracts, also likely as a result of his diabetes. As you can imagine his ability to work has been greatly reduced because he can't see. As a result, funding for his surgery is limited. His surgery is currently scheduled for October 15th (a day that is already dear to me for a couple reasons). The cost of the procedure is $3050 and he needs help covering it. He also has a family that he cares for and lately it's been really hard.
He did not ask for my help. Through an additional project and a dear mutual friend I learned about his condition. I believe that we are called to help each other. So to answer that call I am doing what I can to help my friend. I am sharing a photo of him, with his permission, but to protect his privacy, I am not sharing his name. However if you need an amazingly talented, goodness of character, salt of the earth, trustworthy stone mason I can point you in the right direction once he is healed.
