Brandon’s Battle

Donation protected
Unfortunately, once again we need your help to raise funds for my brother-in-law, Brandon, my sister Caitlin, and their four year old son Rhodes.

After a three year battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, Brandon finished chemotherapy June 2, 2021, and was declared cancer-free on September 10. He enjoyed the next year spending time at home with his family, getting back into a routine at work, and slowly re-building his stamina. On August 16, 2022, Brandon went in for a routine bone marrow biopsy to ensure that he remained cancer-free. Unfortunately, on August 29th he received the results of his biopsy via a phone call from his oncologist, who informed him that the cancer had returned. Their world was once again turned upside down.

One week later, Brandon met with his Leukemia specialist at the University of Miami to review the best treatment options. He was informed that he would need to start almost continual immunotherapy for the next six months to a year to get him back into remission while he waits for a suitable match for a bone marrow/stem cell transplant. Brandon began treatment Monday, September 19 in Miami. He will have extended hospital stays along with multiple, weekly doctor’s appointments which will put an unexpected and heavy burden on Brandon, Caitlin, Rhodes, and their family. Brandon will work from home as much as he is physically able; although during treatment, transplant, and recovery, he will miss extended periods of work. Caitlin is also dealing with having to move her dance studio which she has been in for more than seven years. On top of all this they still have enormous medical debt from the first three plus years of treatment and now face significant, unknown medical expenses again.

They ask that you please keep their family in your prayers, as they have full trust that their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will continue to perform miracles in their lives. They are beyond blessed to have so many wonderful people encouraging, supporting, loving, and praying for them. Any financial contributions will be immensely appreciated and will go towards helping Brandon and Caitlin pay bills during this period where they will not be able to work to their full capacities. Thank you so much for your love and generosity towards the Rathe family.
