Moving to safety
Donation protected
Hi! Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
14 years ago I was hit while walking by a drunk driver at 50mph from behind. My body smashed the roof of the car, I was thrown over 120 feet, and I landed on the pavement. I spent two weeks in a coma and came back to consciousness in a terribly wrecked body.
I sustained multiple major skull fractures, a severe traumatic brain injury and much nerve damage, multiple broken vertebrae in my neck and upper back, broken ribs and a collapsed lung, a completely separated left shoulder, twisted/torn pelvis and low back, a blown out ACL in my left knee and 4 bone breaks in my left leg, and I have double vision from the complex skull neck nerve brain inner ear damage. I am still in a lot of pain physically and the experience of living after a severe brain injury feels impossible to fully describe.
I have been struggling to manage basic life functions since this wreck and earning a living has been difficult. I have been able to stay in the black until Covid and the shutdown. I have nothing saved. The safety of my current living situation has been deteriorating with gangs and gunshots now in the neighborhood regularly. I have to get myself to a safer situation and I don’t have the resources to move. I appreciate it so much if you are able to help!
