On Tuesday May 2, Sandra was on her way home from work on Hwy 221 when a driver traveling the opposite direction crossed the center line and slammed into her car head on. Thankfully the quick response from local emergency crews were able to respond and cut Sandra out of her car. She was airlifted to Mission Hospital where she’s undergoing recovery efforts.

Unfortunately, the trauma to Sandra's right leg was extensive resulting in doctors making the decision to amputate below her knee. She also has breaks in both arms, ribs, and left leg and is undergoing testing to determine additional injury.

Sandra's recovery journey will be extensive, and her family needs her community's support to return to what will be a new normal. There are countless expenses that will be incurred to help Sandra transition through her recovery to day-to-day living (wheelchair ramp, modifying her home, etc.) on top of the massive medical expense weeks/months in the hospital will leave.

Sandra has never been one to ask for help but she's always the first to lend a hand. She's tough as nails and has been more positive than imaginable going in and out of surgeries. She’s also kept a sense of humor through this all which speaks to who she is. So… let’s help her get back on her ‘foot’.
