Study Abroad- Japan!

Donation protected
Hello everyone!

Some of you may know that I have been attending a Medical Laboratory Technology program at SAIT, and they have given me and three others an amazing opportunity to study abroad in Japan for three weeks July 2020.  Funding is needed before mid June, I am hoping to have most of it secured by the end of March so I may focus on classes in the compact semester 3 and keep my grades up!
Being a student comes with its downfalls, such as not having the monetary means to take advantage of opportunities like this, and this is something I really do not want to miss.

About this trip:
Takamatsu is the city this program will be taking place in, where we will be studying alongside MLT's in the program in Takamatsu, Japan. Studying medical science in Japan would provide a sense of accomplishment and a more thorough understanding of the world medical community. I feel that having this once in a lifetime opportunity to study in Japan would help me immensely with my furthering my appreciation of medical science and how it is understood and implemented within a culture that is very different from my own. Working and learning in a foreign country will help remove barriers and build a foundation of empathy towards differences. The way medicine is perceived in eastern culture is varies greatly from western culture; eastern medicine focuses a lot more on treatment of the whole body, mind, and spirit, and focus on the community health, whereas in western medical culture it is more individualistic and uses the quick ``fix`` method with pills and medications instead of lifestyle change and community support. This is an exciting opportunity to get to know new people, potentially make life long connections, and experience life in a way that would otherwise be unavailable to me. The ability to put this experience on my resume would open more opportunities for me in the future to bring my knowledge and skills that SAIT has taught me to other countries in the world that need Medical Laboratory Technologists. The connections I will make will bring more avenues not only to me, but to my contacts through me, for example, potentially starting new exchange programs through future institutions we may be employed at and keeping an important dialogue open.Participating in this trip to Japan and being immersed in their culture would be an unbelievable experience that would absolutely change my perspective on people, on myself, on the world, and change my life.

I am looking to raise $2000 to help pay for this trip. The estimated total cost is approximately $4500, including flights, hotels, food, day trips etc.

Anything helps, and thank you so much for making my dreams come true!
