Jonah's Medical Fund

Hi everyone, my name is Rebekah Smith. I am a mother of two and a wife. My youngest son, Jonah, was born on March 13th and the day he was born was such a happy day but also the most terrifying day of my life. My whole pregnancy was fine, ultrasounds looked good and no signs of any complications. My son was born with both hips dislocated and something called vertical talus in both feet. (The bones in both of his feet were not properly formed) The worst complication he had was shortly after birth, both of his femurs broke. My labor was very smooth and the hospital is unsure why this incident occurred. Jonah was in the NICU for 2 weeks after delivery. We brought Jonah home in a spica cast and continued to see multiple doctors including his orthopedic, genetics, neurologist, and physical therapist. He needed genetics testing to see if he had a bone disease (Which we finally were approved with the testing after fighting with the insurance company to cover the testing and he does not have a bone disease). He needed the neurologist to determine why he wasn’t moving his legs as much as he should be (Which was left undetermined after an MRI was done). He still needs the orthopedic and the physical therapist for his hips and feet, the orthopedic does cast therapy for his feet and when he is not in the cast, he is in AFOs, he needs the physical therapy because his disability makes it hard for him to be at the level he needs to be with his gross motor skills and his disability causes stiffness in his hips and feet and causes his core muscles to be very weak. My insurance company hardly covers any of my son’s hospital stays or testing of any kind and in most cases they denied his testing and we had to fight to get the testing done. This has been a long and stressful journey and in just a few months my son will undergo a very difficult surgery for his hips. This surgery could possibly need multiple sessions and then he will also need surgery on his feet. We have been left with over $10,000 in hospital bills and more will come as Jonah continues the care that he needs to be okay. My husband and I try our best to make ends meet and I have tried so many ways to get the help we need and honestly anything would help us and our beautiful family. I just want the best for my boys and it has been a very difficult 8 months for us and I know we are nowhere near the end. I really appreciate your time on even reading this and if you can donate anything to help my baby with his disability we would be so grateful.
