Rebuilding hope for Hussein’s family in Gaza

Dear friends,

My name is Hussein Yassin Al-Astal, and I am 20 years old. I am from Khan Yunis-Gaza, a city that was not spared massacre by occupation. I study cybersecurity at the College of Applied Sciences.

Since October 7th until now I have been living an incredible genocide and horrific bombing , which includes the city where I was raised. Every day, despite the constant bombing of civilians, I miraculously avoid getting lost. My neighborhood and my lovely home, which holds all of my memories, were taken from me because of this war. In addition to that, I lost friends and family members where I currently reside. My beloved uncle Hisham Hussein Al-Astal, who always kept an eye on my academic progress and provided moral support along with his family, was the last person I lost. He and his family passed away when the occupation warplanes raided the house where they were hiding from danger, leaving only two of my cousin's children, Hussein and Yazan, to carry on the family name. We rescued them from under the rubble. My father, who has kidney failure, decided to take care of my cousins after my uncle and his family were passed away, because no one else could take care of them.

We live now in a shelter camp for displaced people, inside a tent that does not protect against the heat of summer or the cold of winter ( our tent was destroyed twice in the winter). Everyday I sit inside the tent thinking about what I will do so that my brother and I can continue our studies.

I am writing this hoping that this world will assist my brother and I in leaving Gaza, as our education will not be sufficient to help our family, nor my father, who is terminally ill, but... My brother and I are currently making a difficult choice of leaving the Gaza Strip so that we can pursue our studies. Although, we confront significant challenges, such as the cost of a border crossing permit for Egypt and education fees in a third country.

Twenty thousand US dollars($20000), about nineteen thousand euros(19000£), will be raised to pay for:

1. $10,000 to arrange my brother's and my departure from Gaza into Egypt ($5,000 for each person).

2. $5000 dollars to rent an apartment in Egypt and purchase school supplies.

3. $2000 to purchase my father's medicines over the next few months.

4. $3000 to cover expenses of my two orphan cousins.

انا حسين ياسين الأسطل ابلغ من العمر 20 من مدينة خانيونس التي لم تسلم من بطش الاحتلال الهمجي. ادرس الأمن السيبراني في الكلية الجامعية للعلوم التطبيقية

الى جميع من يقرأ قصتي منذ 7 اكتوبر الى الان وقطاع غزة ومنهم مدينتي التي كبرت فيها يشهدوا قصف و تهجيرغيرعادي حيث انه كل يوم أنجو من الموت بأعجوبة بسبب القصف المتكرر للمدنيين .بسبب هذه الحرب خسرت بيتي الجميل الذي يحمل كل ذكرياتي بداخله وايضا خسرت الحي الذي اعيش فيه وايضا فقدت احبائي واصدقائي . آخر من فقدت هو عمي الحبيب هشام حسين الاسطل الذي كان يتفقد دراستي دائما ويدعمني معنويا هو وأفراد عائلته حيث ان طائرات الاحتلال الغادرة أغارت على البيت الذي كان هاربا من الخطر إليه هو وعائلته وقتل هو وعائلته ولم يتبقى من عائلته سوى طفلان من اولاد عمي وهما يزن وحسين نجو باعجوبة من القصف حيث اننا أخرجناهم من تحت أنقاض البيت , بعدما مات عمي وعائلته قرر أبي الذي يعاني من مرض الفشل الكلوي أن يأخذ اولاد عمي ويهتم بهم ليربيهم حتى أن يصلوا سن الرشد حيث انه لايوجد احد يمكن ان يعتني بهم غيرنا .

نعيش الآن في مخيم إيواء للنازحين داخل خيمة لا تقي حر الصيف ولا برد الشتاء حيث ان خيمتنا تحطمت مرتين من الشتاء . كل يوم اجلس داخل الخيمة افكر ماذا سوف افعل كي استطيع اكمال تعليمي انا واخي .

اكتب لكم قصتي آملا من الله ثم من هذا العالم أن يساعدني انا واخي كي نخرج من غزة ونكمل تعليمنا لنستطيع مساندة اهلي وابي المريض بالفشل الكلوي . في هذا الوقت من اليأس، اتخذنا القرار الصعب بأن نغادر قطاع غزة انا واخي حتى نستطيع إكمال دراستنا بالخارج . ومع ذلك، فإننا نواجه عقبات كبيرة، بما في ذلك الرسوم الباهظة المفروضة على عبور الحدود من غزة.

سيتم جمع مبلغ 20000 دولار أمريكي ما يعادل تقريبا 19000 يورو ليغطي:

1- 10000 دولار تنسيق خروج من غزة إلى جمهورية مصر العربية انا واخي (5000 دولار) لكل شخص .

2- 5000 دولار لشراء المستلزمات الدراسية واستئجار شقة داخل مصر .

3- 2000 دولار لشراء الادوية اللازمة لابي في الفترة القادمة .

4- 3000 دولار مصاريف لأولاد عمي الطفلين اليتامى .
