Help Kate Fight Breast Cancer
Please help Kate Buenaflor Dillon fight breast cancer!
On June 11, 2020, Kate was diagnosed with
stage 4 breast cancer.
The diagnosis came as a complete shock to
Kate, her husband Ryan, and to all who love
them.
Kate began treatment immediately and while
the results of chemotherapy have been
positive thus far, she has a long road ahead.
Once her chemo is complete, she will learn her options for surgery and then radiation.
She is fighting for a curable outcome.
For the first few months of her treatment,
Kate has kept her diagnosis fairly private. She has said that if she could just "fly away to a
deserted island, beat this thing, and then come back with none the wiser," she would. But, as a small business owner working to save her bars during the Covid crisis, plans to fly away are
just a dream.
Her husband, Ryan Dillon, is a New York City
firefighter out of Ladder 144 in Whitestone,
Queens. Luckily, with the support of the
FDNY, he has been able to be by Kate's side
throughout all of this. After months of slowly
telling friends and loved ones about Kate's
diagnosis, they have decided to share it with
their larger community and ask for your help
and support.
While their health insurance covers a lot, it
does not cover everything. The medical bills
are piling up. And while she still works as
much as she can, due to Covid, there is no
income for Kate as a small business owner
struggling to keep the bar doors open. Any
funds raised through this GoFundMe
campaign will go directly towards Kate's
medical bills, cost of transportation to and
from the hospital, groceries, laundry, and overall cost of living relief.
